​In a world full of hurt, let us give thanks for the promises of God!

Opening prayer of confession
Gracious God, you have told us what is good; and what you require to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with you. And so we come before you as your children and remember our baptism: 

Trusting in the gracious mercy of God,
do you turn from the ways of sin
and renounce evil and its power in the world?
I do.
Do you turn to Jesus Christ
and accept him as your Lord and Savior, trusting in his grace and love?
I do.
Will you be Christ’s faithful disciple, obeying his Word and showing his love?
I will, with God’s help.

O God, you are infinite, eternal and unchangeable, glorious in holiness, full of love and compassion, abundant in grace and truth. We humbly confess our sins and ask your mercy. We have not loved you with a pure heart, nor have we loved our neighbor as ourselves. We have not done justice, loved kindness, or walked humbly with you, our God. Gracious God, you remain with us even in the midst of the storms raging around us. You call us outside of our safety nets and bid us to follow you. Forgive us when we refuse to listen. Forgive us for turning away from our neighbors and choosing our own comfort. Forgive us and renew in us the hope of your salvation, the hope of the world. (Silent prayer) Amen.
