Sunday Worship for May 31, 2020
Pentecost Sunday

Hymn: 280 O Spirit, Dwell Among Us

Call to worship: (Psalm 104)
Leader: I will sing to the LORD as long as I live;
All: I will sing praise to my God while I have being.
Leader: May my meditation be pleasing to God, for I rejoice in the LORD.
All: Bless the LORD, O my soul. Praise the LORD!

Opening prayer of confession
Perplexing, Pentecostal God, you infuse us with your Spirit, urging us to vision and dream. But too often we do not listen to your voice. We abandon these visions and ignore these dreams. Forgive us. May the gift of your presence find voice in our lives, that our babbling may be transformed into discernment and the flickering of many tongues light an unquenchable fire of compassion and justice. (Silent Prayer) Amen.

Assurance of Pardon
We have found favor with this Perplexing, Pentecostal God. Know that you are forgiven and be at peace. Thanks be to God.

Sunday Worship Service for May 17, 2020
Sixth Sunday of Easter

Hymn: 319 Shout to the North

Call to worship: (Galatians 3:28)
Leader: There is no longer Jew or Greek,
All: there is no longer slave or free,
Leader: there is no longer male and female;
All: for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.
Leader: Let us worship God

Opening prayer of confession
Eternal God, our judge and redeemer, we confess that we have tried to hide from you, for we have done wrong. We have lived for ourselves, and apart from you. We have turned from our neighbors, and refused to bear the burdens of others. We have ignored the pain of the world, and passed by the hungry, the poor, and the oppressed. In your great mercy forgive our sins and free us from selfishness, that we may choose your will and obey your commandments; through Jesus Christ our Savior. (Silent Prayer) Amen.

Assurance of Pardon
The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. I declare to you, in the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.
Thanks be to God.

Acts 10:1-17

Sunday Worship Service for May 10, 2020
Fifth Sunday of Easter

Hymn: 7 Mothering God, You Gave Me Birth

Call to worship
Like a hen brooding over her young
God is faithful still
Like a bear protecting her newborn cub
God is faithful still
Like an eagle stirring up her nest to teach her young to life
God is faithful still
Like a mother who will not forsake her nursing child
God is faith still
Let us worship mothering God

Opening prayer of confession
Loving and nurturing God, we give you praise for the gift of life you have freely given us. You stitched us together in our mother’s womb. You know the number of hairs on our heads. You’ve loved us since before the world began. And yet we go astray. We seek out others to worship. We give ourselves over to idols. Forgive us, merciful God. Reclaim us as your own. May we be reborn into your loving care. (Silent prayer) Amen.

Assurance of Pardon
God who formed us and loved us from before the beginning of creation continues to love us and forgive us and welcome us home.
Thanks be to God.

Fourth Sunday of Easter

Hymn: 392 Jesus, We are Here

Call to worship (Psalm 29)
Leader: Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings,
All: ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Leader: Ascribe to the Lord the glory due God’s name;
All: worship the Lord in the splendor of God’s holiness.

Opening prayer of confession
God of delight, your Wisdom sings your Word at the crossroads where humanity and divinity meet. Invite us into your joyful being where you know and are known in each beginning. We are a people of unclean lips, we are a people of unclean hearts. Put a live coal upon us and cleanse us. Redeem us and sustain us. Remind us of our call to follow you. (Silent prayers) Amen.

Assurance of Pardon
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; we have been forgiven and redeemed.
Thanks be to God.
