Order of Worship for Sunday 11, October , 2020
Twenty-eighth Sunday of Ordinary Time Hymn: 385 All People on the Earth Do Dwell Call to worship: Leader: This is the day that the Lord has made. All: Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Opening prayer (prayer of St. Francis) Lord, make me an instrument of your peace, where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O, God, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; for it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen. Scripture Reading: Genesis 1:20-27 Hymn: 15 All Creatures of Our God and King Scripture reading: Isaiah 11:6-10 Reflection Prayers of the people and the Lord’s Prayer Offering/blessing May you be blessed in the Name God, the Creator, Redeemer and of the Sustainer. You stitched us together in our mother’s womb. You know the number of hairs on our heads. You’ve loved us since before the world began. And yet we go astray. We seek out others to worship. We give ourselves over to idols. Forgive us, merciful God. Reclaim us as your own. May we be reborn into your loving care. (Silent prayer) Amen. Assurance of Pardon God who formed us and loved us from before the beginning of creation continues to love us and forgive us and welcome us home. Thanks be to God.
