orange Presbyterian weekday school curriculum
The philosophy of Orange Presbyterian Weekday School encourages children to learn through play. Our hands-on age-appropriate curriculum offers activities that provide great experiences for our anxious learners as they prepare for the adventures of kindergarten.
There are centers offered daily that give your child the opportunity to explore a variety of different activities. Examples of centers include free art, water table, dolls, puzzles, dress-up, blocks and books. Although these centers are offered to all of the children, Pre-K students take their exploration one or two steps further.
Our emphasis is on incorporating all of the subjects into our daily activities. For example: play dough making involves "reading" the directions, choosing the color, measuring, stirring, cooking, etc.
The play centers offered each day develop small motor skills, enhance creativity and imagination. We also have a very large "bike room" for much needed physical activity each morning.
Music is also a large part of our curriculum. The children are exposed to all types of music and we find that some of them who are not verbal will respond quickly to singing and dancing.
