Sunday Worship Service for July 5, 2020
Fourteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time Hymn: 844 Incline You Ear, O Lord Call to worship Leader: What shall we return to the Lord for all the good things God has done for us? All: We will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord. Opening prayer of confession Eternal God, our judge and redeemer, we confess that we have tried to hide from you, for we have done wrong. We have lived for ourselves, and apart from you. We have turned from our neighbors, and refused to bear the burdens of others. We have ignored the pain of the world, and passed by the hungry, the poor, and the oppressed. In your great mercy forgive our sins and free us from selfishness, that we may choose your will and obey your commandments; through Jesus Christ our Savior. (Silent Prayer) Amen. Assurance of Pardon May the God of mercy, who forgives you all your sins, strengthen you in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep you in eternal life. Amen. Hymn: 435 There’s a Wideness in God’s Mercy Scripture reading Psalm 86 Reflection Apostle’s creed Prayers of the people and the Lord’s Prayer Offering Benediction Hymn: 471 O Lord, Hear My Prayer |
