Order of Worship for Sunday, August 2, 2020
Eighteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time

Hymn:  460 Break Thou the Bread of Life

Call to worship: (John 21:15-17)

Leader: Jesus asked, do you love me more than these?
All: Then feed my sheep
Leader: Jesus asked again, do you love me?
All: Then tend my sheep
Leader: Jesus asked a third time, do you love me?
All: Then feed my sheep

Opening prayer of confession
Great and good shepherd, we come before you as sheep of your fold. We come before you knowing that you lead us to still waters and restore our souls. Good shepherd, forgive us when we do not answer your call. Forgive us when we turn away from your voice and start to follow another. Forgive us, and lead us to ways we can love you by taking care of your sheep. (Silent prayer) Amen.

Assurance of Pardon:
Our good shepherd calls us by name and leads us to green pastures. Our good shepherd forgives us of every kind of wrong.
Thanks be to God.

Seventeenth Sunday of Ordinary Time
Hymn: 634 To God be the Glory

All: Sing to God, sing praises to God; tell of all God’s wonderful works.
Leader: Glory in God’s holy name;
All: let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.

Opening prayer of confession
Loving and merciful God, you have created us, and every part of the world we live in. We see glimpses of you in even the least expected places. Yet we try to hide from you. Sunday Worship Service for April 5, 2020
Palm Sunday

Call to worship

Just as Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey so long ago
Jesus enters our hearts this day
Let us join in worship: Hosanna
Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord!

Opening prayer of confession
Gracious God, our hearts are heavy this morning. As we enter into Holy Week, we long to be together. We miss our neighbors, we miss our community. We mourn for the sick, we mourn for the whole world. Merciful God, forgive us when we forget about our neighbor. Forgive us when we stew in anger. Remain with us in our grief and remind us that we are not alone. (Silent confession) Amen.

Assurance of Pardon
Though we remain distant, we are one in Christ Jesus. Through the grace of Jesus, know that you are forgive and be at peace.
Thanks be to God.
