Order of Worship for Sunday, August 9, 2020
Nineteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time
Hymn: 159 O Sing a Song of Bethlehem

Call to worship: (Matthew 14)
Leader: Though storms rage, and waves crash;
All: God is present still.
Leader: Though we are afraid;
All: God is present still.
Leader: God is present still;
All: Let us worship God.

Opening prayer of confession
Gracious God, you remain with us even in the midst of the storms raging around us. You call us outside of our safety nets and bid us to follow you. Forgive us when we refuse to listen. Forgive us for turning away from our neighbors and choosing our own comfort. Forgive us and renew in us the hope of your salvation, the hope of the world. (Silent prayer) Amen.

Assurance of Pardon:
The mercy of the Lord is form everlasting to everlasting. In the name of Jesus, you are forgiven.
Thanks be to God.
