You know as well as I do that
this world desperately needs
more forgiveness and less fighting
more reconciliation and less retribution.

And here's the question:
If we Christians aren't the ones leading the way in this task,
then who do we expect to take our place?

 - Denny Burnette

Scripture Readings:
Genesis 45:1-15
Matthew 15:21-28

Even in the darkness we believe that God will give us courage to obey His will.

We can be aware of God's presence even in silence. And with our spiritual eyes open we're guided to pray and to act with courage.

  • Rev. Dr. Hyun Chang Bae

Faith is a process rather than a possession.
It's on again/off again rather than once and for all.

Faith is not being sure where you're going, but going there anyway.
It's a journey without maps.

 -  Frederick Buechner

Psalm 13:1-6;
Genesis 22: 1-19

In so many ways, this world is a mess. It seems to be falling apart.
But through the eyes of Pentecost faith, you and I can dare to affirm that God's Holy Spirit is working to overcome discord and confusion in ways that we cannot possibly comprehend or even imagine.

 - Denny Burnette

Being born anew in Jesus' terms is not something we do. It's not a box we can check.

It's something that God does on our behalf.
It's something that God does within us.
It's a process by which God,
over the course of a lifetime,
molds us lovingly into something beautiful.

 - Denny Burnette

Scripture Readings:
Genesis 12:1-4
John 3:1-16; 19:38-42

Jesus put God at the center of his life because he knew that God was the source of all authentic life.

And that profound insight is the path that God offers us.

Sometimes I ask the question is God is so righteous and God is so just, how come he's so slow?
But our faithfulness in waiting is because we've read the last chapter. We know that no matter how long the wait, on the last day we have received the sure and certain promise of resurrection to life eternal.
 - Pat Nabers

Scripture Readings:

Gen. 32:22-32; Luke 18:1-8

With Christ, we must pay attention to order. Lest what is accessory becomes our chief concern. Accessories, like our hard work.
our moral superiority, our vision of how things should be.
Us.

Discipleship is not about us. It's not about our words, but the Living Word before us.
