Finance Committee
This committee guides and assists the church in undertaking all its financial concerns. These duties include not only having the overall responsibility for the collection and recording of congregational offerings, but overseeing and assisting the treasurer, properly recording and acknowledging memorials and gifts among others.

Finance Committee Responsibilities
2008 Elders: Anne Somerville and Mike Willis
- Bear overall responsibility for the collecting, counting, depositing, recording of the congregation’s offerings.
- Counsel when requests for non-budgeted expenses arise.
- Oversee and assist the treasurer’s work in accounting, receiving and disbursing money, and in providing Session a detailed monthly financial report showing receipts and disbursements.
- Keep the congregation informed about the financial giving of members through monthly reports to the congregation on the church budget and special offerings.
- Ensure that the church’s financial records are independently audited annually.
- Make recommendations annually to the Session (along with the Endowment Committee) of gifts suitable to be purchased as memorials, decide upon the appropriateness of suggested gifts, and help donors in the selection of suitable memorial gifts.
- Receive memorial and special gifts and see that these are properly acknowledged.
- Record memorial gifts given in the memorial book in the narthex, and provide the congregation at least annually information about memorial gifts that have been given.
- Develop in the fall an annual budget for the total church program after receiving budget requests from the church’s committees and groups.
